NCP to contest from six seats in Bihar Assembly bypolls

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Tariq Anwar said NCP had decided to contest from six of the 18 assembly seats in the bypolls on September 10 and September 15.
Anwar was addressing a press conference in Patna on August 26, 2009.

Turning to Maharashtra he said talks were underway between the NCP and Congress leaders to affect a perfect seat-sharing accord for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra.

Tariq said the leaders of the two parties were holding talks on the issue of a perfect seat-sharing accord in Maharashtra “to stop the communal forces from coming to power.”

Ruling out the possibility of the NCP merging with the Congress, he alleged that a section of Congressmen was spreading rumours in this connection.
