Strike cripples banks



Bank employees of Bihar on Thursday (August 6, 2009) struck work bringing all banking transactions to a grindinghalt in response to the two-day nation-wide strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) to press their demands including wage hike.

Bank employees held a demonstration in front of the State Bank of India head office in Patna as a mark of solidarity and similar demonstrations were held across all districts in the state.
The demands put forward by UBFU include wage revision, second offer of pension and appointments on compassionate grounds.
