Tarakant Jha is new Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council



Senior BJP leader Tarakant on Tuesday assumed charge as Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. Jha was unanimously elected as new chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar proposed the name of Jha, for the post, which was seconded by the opposition leader in the upper house Gulam Gaus.

Tarakant Jha is the former state BJP president and a senior MLC. Jha, also a senior advocate of the Patna High Court, replaced senior Congress leader Arun Kumar, who was hitherto working as acting chairman during the past three years.
Ruling Janata Dal (United) member Virendra Kumar Choudhary was unanimously elected as new vice-chairman of the Council.

In his maiden speech, Jha urged the members to maintain decorum of the House and not to create noisy scenes to put across their point inside the House.
