Bihar Government inks deal with ONGC-Tata Petrodyne for oil exploration

Bihar Government inked an agreement with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and its JV partner Tata Petrodyne to explore petroleum and natural gas in a 2227-sq km area in West Champaran (Bettiah) district.
The agreement was signed by Phool Singh, Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology department, and ONGC's General Manager (Frontier Basin), N K Verma, in the presenceof Tata Petrodyne Chief Financial Officer, A Guha, in Patna on October 29, 2009.
Bihar Cabinet had approved a Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) application of ONGC and Tata Petrodyne earlier this month.
