Junior doctors call off strike

Junior doctors of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) called off their indefinite strike for 15 days after a joint assurance from Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Bihar State Health Services Association (BSHSA) that their demands would be fulfilled within a fortnight. Doctors have threatened to go on strike if their demands were not met within the time frame.

The indefinite strike by the junior doctors of the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) entered the 12th day on November 21, 2009, affecting the normal functioning of the hospital badly.
Junior doctors were demanding hike in their monthly stipend from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per month.
