Sonepur Cattle Fair begins

The auspicious day of Kartika Purnima kicked off the Sonepur Cattle Fair, once termed as Asia’s biggest cattle fair in Sonepur on November 2, 2009. Besides the hordes of milch animals, the fair has an added attraction of elephants and camels.
On Kartik Purnima, elephants do take baths in the river Gandak that provides a natural beauty for visitors.
Officially, the Sonepur Fair was iangurated on November 1, 2009 by Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi in a colourful function.
