Jaitley slams Centre for price rise

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley was in Patna on February 3, 2010 on a two-day visit to Bihar. Jaitley held a meeting with party MLAs at BJP office. Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and State BJP president Radha Mohan Singh were also present on the occasion. Bihar unit of the BJP also felicitated Jaitley by presenting him a memento.
Speaking on the occasion Jaitley alleged that weak government at the Centre could not take "political decisions" and had adopted an "escapist attitude" so far regarding creation of separate Telangana and on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
"The Centre has adopted and escapist attitude... it was trying to fire from the shoulders of judiciary by appointing retired judges to decide the Telangana and J&K issue," he said.
Jaitley also criticised Central government for skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and said it had nothing to do with the global meltdown.
"Normally during the slowdown, prices mainly that of essential commodities go down as a rule. But here in the country, it is quite the opposite as there are both -- slowdown and price rise", he added.
Later Jaitley called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at latter's residence.
