Japanese envoy Fuzio Samukawa in Patna

The consul general of Japan, Fuzio Samukawa was in Patna on February 18, 2010. Samukawa called on the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and he had invited Kumar to visit Japan.
Later talking to reporter Samukawa lamented that business houses of his country had no presence in Bihar where the GDP has registered a growth rate of 11.03 per cent.
He said despite the business ties between the two countries being 'very good', poor investments had been made by the Japanese companies in the eastern states of Bihar, West, Bengal and Orissa.
Samukawa said no investment proposal was discussed during the meeting with the chief minister. A project to improve the Buddhist circuit in the state was in the offing thereby generating some hope of investments particularly in road sector, he added.
