Congress in Bihar faces leadership trouble

Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee organised state-level delegates meeting in Patna on March 5, 2010.
The meeting turned out to be battle ground between dissidents and present Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Anil Kumar Sharma. Unruly scenes were witnessed when a general secretary and former MP posed an uncomfortable question to the state chief Anil Sharma.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Jagdish Tytler was also present in the meeting.
Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of controversial Pappu Yadav now on bail in connection with the murder of CPI-M legislator Ajit Sarkar, challenged Sharma to spell out as to how many persons inducted in the state executive committee were having criminal backgrounds leading to some exchange of words.
Ranjeeta had come to the conference after attending a dissident meeting held at the residence of Congress legislature party leader Ashok Ram where eight legislators had gathered.
The meeting at Ashok Ram's house passed resolution expressing "full faith" in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
The resolution demanded immediate removal of Sharma and depute a strong leader who could instill confidence among party workers.
