Rare Durga idol found in Benisagar

Archeological Survey of India (ASI) organized a seminar at State Archives Hall in Patna on April 9, 2010.
Delivering the keynote address, archeologist Dr Neeraj Kumar spoke on the latest findings of Benisagar, which is located in the bordering areas of Orissa and Jharkhand.
He said Benisagar was oldest place in India for its unique Shaiva culture. “Idols of Lord Ganesh, Vaayu, Agni and Goddess Durga (Mahishasur Mardini) were found in the latest excavation of the area," he added.
