JD (U) gears up for July 5 Bihar Bandh

Bihar Janata Dal (United) president Vijay Kumar Choudhary held a preparatory meeting with party workers for the July 5 Bihar Bandh in Patna on June 30, 2010.

JD(U) called for a 12-hour Bharat Bandh on July 5 to protest against the alleged "anti-people" hike in prices of petroleum products.

"We have called Bharat Bandh on July 5 against the anti-people raise in prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and kerosene," Choudhary said.

He said his party had already demanded rolling back the prices of the petroleum products immediately.
He said the price rise would have "a cascading effect," and accused the UPA government at the Centre of failing to contain the escalating prices of essential commodities.
