Senior IAS officer 'assaults' official

Bihar government employees under the banner of the Secretariat Employees Association gheraoed a senior IAS officer KK Pathak's chamber in the Secretariat premises and confined him there for more than two hours seeking action in Patna on August 19, 2010

It was alleged that Pathak assaulted his subordinate and auditor in the state Human Resource Department, prompting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order a high-level inquiry into the incident.

Additional Secretary of the HRD department K K Pathak reportedly called Laxman Ram, an auditor posted in Magadh University in Bodh Gaya, and following a heated argument, beat up the auditor, with other officials present in the chamber.

Ram has lodged an FIR against Pathak, charging him with perpetrating atrocity on a dalit and addressing him by caste in presence of some other officials.

Later, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed Chief Secretary Anup Mukherjee to inquire into the incident.
