Junior doctors of Bihar call off strike

Junior doctors of all the medical colleges of Bihar, who went on indefinite strike from the midnight of January 30, 2011, called off their strike after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured them of adequate security in Patna on February 4, 2011. The doctors were demanding arrest of an RJD MLA from Belganj constituency Surendra Yadav, whose bodyguards had fired at them in a Gaya hospital.

A delegation of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Junior Doctors Association led by its secretary D Kumar called on the chief minister this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the senior RJD MLA Surendra Yadav surrendered before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gaya, RNS Pande, which remanded him in 14 days judicial custody.

After the withdrawal of strike, Patna Medical College and Hospital limped back to normalcy.
