Coldest day in Patna


The minmium temperature in Patna recored 6.4 degree Celsius on December 27, 2009, as the roadside dwellers lit up bonfire to keep themselves warm.

Fire breaks out in a Goria Toli house


Fire broke out in a leather and synthetic bag godown in Goria Toli locality under Kotwali Police station area in Patna on December 27, 2009. Firetenders rushed to the spot and tamed the fire but not before property worth thousands of rupees turned into ashes.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!

Thousands offered prayers in special Christmas morning mass in Patna churches on December 25, 2009 to celebrate the occasion. At the Church at Bishop’s House at Ashok Rajpath new wed couples sought Jesus Christ blessings while mothers holding their babies were blessed by the priest holding a replica of the infant Jesus.
Thousands irrespective of community also lighted candles to mark the occasion.

Robot festival begins

"Robo fest" was inaugurated at BN College in Patna on December 25, 2009. The three-day fest would provide the students the know-how to prepare a robot. About 1500 students drawn from different schools of Patna have been taking part in the festival.
Patna Science College principal Dr Kashinath and Electronic Department head of NIT-Patna, Professor BK Sharma jointly inaugurated the festival.

59 students get gold medals in Patna University Convocation



Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said she would take up the matter of according Central university status to Patna University with the centre.
Meira Kumar was addressing the convocation ceremony of Patna University on December 23, 2009.
On the occasion, as many as 59 students of 2007-08 batches were awarded gold medals.
Bihar Governor Debanand Konwar, who is also the chancellor of the university, presided over the function. Bihar Human Resource Development Minister Hari Narayan Singh was present at the function.This was the second convocation in a year for Patna University.
