Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a national workshop on "Conservation of Ganga river Dolphin" in Patna on February 23, 2010. The workshop was organised by Department of Zoology, Patna University.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said a move had been afoot to start "Dolphin Tourism" in the Ganga and save the rare blind mammal from extinction.

CII, Bihar, plans to boost farm sector

Bihar State Council of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) decided to roll out a 10-point action plan for creating wealth in the farm sector from April this year. This was disclosed by CII, Bihar chairman Satyajit Kumar Singh at a press conference in Patna on February 23, 2010.
Elaborating the plan Satyajit said the CII had chalked out specific skill development programme for the local workforce to equip them with the changning job requirements.

Election Commissioner SY Qureshi unhappy over electoral rolls work in Bihar


India's Election Commissioner Dr SY Qureshi held a meeting with Bihar Government's Chief Secretary Anup Kumar Mukherji in Patna on February 22, 2010.
Later addressing a press conference Dr Qureshi said he was not satisfied with the progress of Bihar in preparing photo electoral rolls. He said just 57.4 per cent of voters had been included in the list of those who had been issued photo identity cards against an all-India avearge of 82 per cent.

Mahadalit Ekjutata Rally held in Patna




Thousands drawn from different districts of Bihar participated in the Mahadalit Ekjutata Rally, organised by ruling NDA at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on February 21, 2010. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil K Modi, Bihar Vdihan Sabha Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary were among others who addressed the meeting.
Addressing the meeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that a survey would be conducted to know the exact number of nomad community people, residing in the state, with efforts to settle them permanently.
Kumar called upon the 'nomad' community members at a public meeting to take advantage of measures by the state to improve their lot and implored them to learn the 3 R's so that they could know about their rights provided under the constitution.
Bihar Chief Minister claimed that the large number of dalits, who gathered here, vindicated the success in the government's efforts to provide justice to the downtrodden.
He asked them not to be "misled by the opposition propaganda that the government was out to break the dalits by creating a Mahadalit Commission".
