UID registration begins in Patna
General Post Office (GPO) Patna on June 24, 2011 launched Unique Identification (UID) card registration process. Bihar State Religious Trust Board Administrator Acharya Kishore Kunal inaugurated the scheme by registering himself for the UID. The UID number will be issued by Unique Identification Authority of India. Bankipore, Patna City, Lohia Nagar and Danapur are the other post offices which have been assigned to register people for UID. Top officials of the GPO were present in the inaugural function.

New political party Bihar Navnirman Manch floated
Suspended Janata Dal (United) leader and Rajya Sabha member Upendra Singh Kushwaha, former MPs Ejaj Ali and Arun Kumar and suspended JD(U) MP Mangni Lal Mandal jointly floated a new party Bihar Navnirman Manch (BNM) in Patna on June 21, 2011. Upendra Singh Kushwaha has been made convener of the Manch. The new party has decided to launch agitation against corruption, bureaucratism and degradation of democratic values in Bihar. The party will also host a state-level workers convention at SK Memorial Hall in Patna on August 21.
