Workshop held on 'Recent advances in geosciences in Bihar and Jharkhand'
A national workshop on "Recent advances in geosciences in Bihar and Jharkhand" was held at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies in Patna on October 29, 2012. KP Ramaih, principal secretary, Bihar Government's Mines and Geology Department inaugurated the seminar. A Sundaramoorthy, director general of Geological Survey of India delivered the keynote address.

Patna Sahib Group of Colleges ties up with Canada-based college
Patna Sahib Group of Colleges had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Canada-based college so that BTech and Polytechnic students could get higher education in Canada and placement opportunity there. Paswan demands CBI probe into Sanjay Kumar murder

Avon Cycles' Bihar plant to start production by the end of 2013
Bihar unit of Avon Cycles will start its production by the end of next year. At initial stage the Bihar unit will make 500 bicycles per day. The production will increase as per demand of the market, said Onkar Singh Pahwa, managing director, Avon Cycles Limited while talking to reporters in Patna on October 28, 2012. The Bihar Government had allotted 2.5 acres of land in Hajipur to the company for setting up a bicycle plant. The construction work of the plant will begin from November. Earlier, in the dealers meet, Pahwa launched seven new models of bicycles.

Agitating mob disrupts movement of trains
Irate mob protesting the death of a youth blocked the Railway tracks near the Sachivalaya Halt on Patna-Mughalsarai section of the East Central Railway, in Patna on October 26, 2012, forcing the movement of the trains to remain paralysed for more than two hours. The body of the youth was found near the Railway tracks at Gumti No. 1.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar holds meeting with SC-ST monitoring committee
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presided over a meeting of state-level vigilance and monitoring committee for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in Patna on October 26, 2012. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi was present in the meeting. Speaking in the meeting the Nitish Kumar directed the Chief Secretary AK Sinha to set up a special cell in the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Department for monitoring and strict implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Joint AGM of All India Anglo-Indian Education Institution and All India Anglo-Indian Association begins in Patna
The three-day joint annual general meeting (JAGM) of the All India Anglo-Indian Education Institution and All India Anglo-Indian Association (AIAIA) began in Patna on October 26, 2012.
