CDPO nabbed taking bribe in Patna
Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of rural Patna, Phulpari Kumari was caught by the officials of Vigilance Investigation Bureau at the former's under construction house in Patna on August 17, 2013 while taking Rs 40,000 as bribe for releasing appointment letter of an Anganwadi sevika. Vigilance Investigation Bureau also seized Rs 4.74 lakh in cash, bank passbooks, gold and silver ornaments and several documents relating to immovable property from her house.

CPI-ML protests attack on Mahadalits

RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav visited Patna Medical College and Hospital on August 16, 2013 to meet the injured Mahadalit villagers, who were admitted to PMCH after sustaining serious injuries in a clash with local landlords at Baddi village (Mahadalit tola) under Baddi police station of Rohtas district on August 15, 2013 over the hoisting of national flag at a 'disputed' place. One person was killed and 43 others were injured in the incident.

Manoj Tiwari to return Bhojpuri Academy Award
Bhojpuri film star and singer Manoj Tiwari said he would return the Bhojpuri Academy Award given to him by the Bihar Governor at International Bhojpuri conference earlier in protest against appointment of folk singer Malini Awasthi as brand ambassador of Bhojpuri Academy. Tiwari was speaking to media in Patna on August 16, 2013.
