Paswan launches Jail Bharo agitation, arrested

Hundreds of Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) workers led by its president Ram Vilas Paswan courted arrest in a state-wide two-day Jail Bharo (fill the jail) agitation to protest the failure of the Nitish Kumar government. Paswan was arrested while leading hundreds of his supporters to the Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum in Patna on July 27, 2009.

LJP workers tried to force their way into the high security zone housing Governor Devanand Konwar and the chief minister's residence, smashed the window panes of a couple of buses, and clashed with police, who resorted to lathi-charge to quell the agitators.
