In all three nomination papers were filed for bypoll to three seats of Bihar Legislative Council to be held on August 12. Bhumipal Rai was the third JD (U) nominee, who filed papers for the election. The bypoll has been necessitated by the resignations of former Agriculture Minister in Nitish government Nagmani, JD(U)'s Ram Badan Rai and RJD's Bhim Singh.
