Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar distributed cheques to scavengers at a function, organized by Bihar State Scheduled Caste Co-operative Development Corporation at SK Memorial hall in Patna on December 10, 2009.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said Bihar government was committed to eradicate the inhuman practice of scavenging by rehabilitating manual scavengers by 2010. He also stressed upon easy disbursement of loans through banks for rehabilitation for manual scavengers.
As many as 4515 scavengers got the loan cheques in the function.
