Bihar Health Society signs MoU with 4 private hospitals

Bihar Health Society signed a MoU with four private hospitals to provide training to ANMs and grade “A” staff nurses in Patna on January 28, 2010.
The hospitals which signed the agreement were Kurji Hospital, Triploia Hospital (both in Patna), Duncan Hospital (Raxaul) and Kishanganj Medical College and Hospital.
It is a Bihar government’s initiative to check maternal mortality rate.
Bihar Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav was present on the occasion.

Eight get Kalashree awards

Bihar Kalashree Puraskar Parishad and Bihar Kala Evam Sanskriti Vikas Parishad organised a cultural cum prize-distribution function in Patna on January 28, 2010.

On the occasion 12 persons were awarded Bihar Siksha Shiromani award. Eight persons got Kalashree while 7 persons received Vishesh Kalashree and one got Bihar Patrakarshree awards.

Bihar Rural Development Minister Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha inagurated the function. Bihar Child Labour Commission chairman Ramdev Prasad, BN Jha former vice-chancellor SNP Sinha, Vinod Kumar Singh and Anil Sulabh were present in the function.

Patna Police rescue five kids

Patna Police arrested a person and rescued five children, who were being taken to Ahmedabad for Jari work in a saree factory. All the kids belong the Sitamarhi district.

Rich haul of explosives seized in Patna

Patna Police seized around two lakh detonators being smuggled to Nepal from a truck near Hartali Chowk on January 28, 2010.

Police said they intercepted the truck and seized it late last night. Invoices from Rajasthan Explosive and Chemicals Limited consigned for Synergic Power Development Private Limited in Nepal were also seized. The driver and helper of the truck were arrested.

Second day of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's Bodh Gaya sojourn

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state had the potential to achieve 20 per cent growth rate.

Kumar made the remark after inspecting the integrated agricultural system at the farm of a small farmer Ram Sevak Prasad Mahto at Dobhi (Gaya ) on the second day of his Bodh Gaya sojourn on January 28, 2010.

He said Mahato's farming had impressed him and the government would work for the waiver of registration fees and stamp duty on lands being exchanged by farmers through mutual understanding for integrated farming.

Bihar observes a near-complete bandh

Normal life in Patna and other parts of Bihar came to a stand still during the dawn to dusk bandh called by the RJD and supported by LJP and Left parties on January 28, 2010.

Though the RJD had exempted the Railways, bandh supporters blocked railway tracks in several areas. Tyres were burnt on national highways and on the important roads of Patna to create hindrance in the flow of traffic.

Over 6,500 bandh supporters were taken into custody including RJD chief and former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi, former Union ministers Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, state RJD chief Abdul Bari Siddiqui, and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan.

The bandh was called to protest the price rise of essential commodities.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Bodh Gaya sojourn

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached Bodh Gaya on his four-day sojourn on January 27, 2010.

The CM visited several places in Gaya district and its neighbourhood including Kurkihar, Sujatagarh, Dharmanhar and Dhudeshwari.
Speaking on the occasion Bihar Cihief Minister Nitish Kumar stressed the need for a thorough research by archaeologists at the key Buddhist pilgrim centre. "History of humanity is hidden in the area which requires thorough research, survey and extraction by experts,"he said.
Later, addressing a public meeting he said the places were of historic importance and would be connected to the Buddhist circuit.

COMFED tableau wins first prize in Republic Day celebrations in Patna

Tableaux brought out by different government departments on the occasion of the 6oth Republic Day were main attraction of the celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on January 26, 2010. Altogether 11 government departments of Bihar displayed their tableaux presenting their development work. The tableau “Shwet Shakti” (White Power) presented by COMFED, popularly known as Sudha Dairy won the first prize. Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Department tableau got the second position while “Care of the new-born babes” by the State Health Society claimed the third position.
