Killer of women kabaddi player Manisha dies




The day (February 10, 2011) was quite hectic and heart-rending for the sports lovers of Patna. Hundreds of sports fans including sports organizers and players gathered at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) mortuary where the body of ace women kabaddi player Manish Kumari (24), who was shot dead by a CRPF jawan on February 9 evening near Moinul Haq Stadium. Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Sukhada Pandey visited the morgue (in pix top).

Manisha's father and a relative arrived in Patna on February 10, 2011 and took her body to the native state Himachal Pradesh (Shimla) for cremation.

Later in the evening the CRPF jawan Jaswant Singh (top in pix), who fired at himself after gunning down Manisha Kumari, succumbed to his injuries in the PMCH.

The jawan of the 131st CRPF Battalion was a resident of Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state government would ask the CRPF headquarters to take immediate steps to withdraw its camps from the stadium and colleges in Bihar.
