Junior doctors to strike work on April 24

Patna: Junior doctors of Bihar will go on 24 hours token strike on Monday (April 24) in protest against the attacks on doctors at SKMCH (Muzaffarpur) following death of a patient.

In a meeting held on Saturday, Junior Doctors Association (JDA) has demanded security arrangements in all medical college hospitals within 24 hours.

They also demanded action against the culprits.  A JDA spokesman said they would not disturb emergency service during strike but they would remain abstain from duty in out patients department (OPD) and wards.

“If the government fails to provide proper security arrangements for doctors and hospitals within 48 hours, they will go on indefinite strike”, he said.

Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA-Bihar) office-bearers reached Muzaffarpur to take the stock of the situation.  The delegation also prepared a memorandum of demands for raising it before the government and seeks its implementation within a week.

The IMA has also decided to meet chief minister Nitish Kumar on the increasing incidents of assault on doctors.
