Bihar Government launched an ambitious project “Mukhyamantri Akshar Anchal” to make around 40 lakh women literate within a period of six months. Rs 53 crore would be spent on the scheme.
Bihar Government’s chief secretary Anup Mukherjee launched the project at a gala function at SK Memorial Hall in Patna on September 8, 2009.
Mukherjee handed over “Akshar Jyoti” (Literacy Torch) to 38 delegates from as many districts of Bihar. It also marked the International Literacy Day celebrations.
