Tiger Seeks Respite from Scorching Heat in Patna Zoo Pond

Patna, June 13, 2024: As the mercury soared past a blistering 44 degrees Celsius in Patna, residents and animals alike sought relief from the oppressive heat. Among them was a majestic Bengal tiger at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, more commonly known as Patna Zoo, which found solace in the cool waters of a pond within its enclosure.

The sweltering temperatures, part of an intense heatwave gripping much of northern India, have made life uncomfortable for both humans and animals. Zookeepers have been vigilant in ensuring the well-being of the zoo’s inhabitants, providing ample water, shade, and cooling measures to help them cope with the extreme weather.

Witnesses to the tiger's refreshing dip described a scene of sheer relief and contentment. The tiger, usually seen pacing its territory or lounging in the shade, waded into the pond, splashing and immersing itself fully. The sight was both heartwarming and a stark reminder of the intense conditions faced by wildlife during such extreme weather events.

Visitors to the zoo were captivated by the rare sight of the tiger in the water, many snapping pictures and videos of the unusual behavior. “It’s amazing to see such a powerful creature enjoying the water,” said one visitor. “It really shows how all creatures need relief from this unbearable heat.”

The zoo authorities continue to monitor the health of all animals closely, implementing various strategies to mitigate the effects of the heatwave. Efforts include the installation of misting systems, provision of electrolyte-rich diets, and frequent veterinary check-ups.

As climate change leads to more frequent and severe heatwaves, such scenes may become increasingly common. The incident at Patna Zoo highlights the need for enhanced measures to protect wildlife in the face of rising global temperatures.

For now, the tiger's serene moment in the pond serves as a poignant reminder of the natural world's resilience and the universal need for comfort amid nature’s harshest challenges.

Scorching Heatwave Hits Patna: Citizens Struggle as Temperature Soars Past 43°C

Patna, June 11, 2024: Patna, the capital city of Bihar, is currently grappling with an intense heatwave as temperatures soar past 43 degrees Celsius. The relentless sun has turned daily life into a grueling challenge for the city's residents.

The extreme heat has forced many to remain indoors during peak hours, leading to a noticeable decrease in outdoor activities and a surge in the use of cooling appliances. However, power outages have exacerbated the situation, leaving many without relief from the oppressive heat.

Healthcare facilities are witnessing an influx of patients suffering from heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heatstroke, and exhaustion. Authorities have issued advisories urging citizens to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the scorching temperatures.

The situation is particularly dire for those who have to work outdoors, such as laborers and street vendors. The soaring temperatures are not only affecting their health but also their livelihoods as the city swelters under the relentless sun.

As Patna endures this severe heatwave, the citizens await relief in the form of cooler weather or the much-anticipated monsoon rains. Until then, staying cool and safe remains the city's top priority.
