Bihar Obstetric and Gynaecological Society in association with Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India organized a seminar on “Adolescent Health” in Patna on December 13, 2009. Bihar Human Rights Commission chairman SN Jha inaugurated the seminar.
The Sample Registration System (SRS) says about 68 per cent of adolescent girls in Bihar are anemic.
Bihar Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said that state government had released Rs 10.24 crore for distribution of iron and folic acids tablets among adolescent girls in this financial year.
“Bihar Government is chalking out a plan of delivering iron supplement at doorsteps and developing a mechanism to ensure that the tablets are being consumed by the affected girls,” he said.
