Rules relaxed for Indira Awas Yojana beneficiaries

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level meeting with the Minister and officials of Rural Development Department in Patna on April 1, 2011. Bihar Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra, its secretary Santosh Kumar Mathew and chief secretary Anup Mukherjee were present in the meeting.

The meeting has decided that from now onward, the Indira Awas Yojana applicants will have to submit affidavits on their status to the rural development department for sanction of dwelling units under the scheme.

The Chief Minister said the rural development department should put in place a mechanism, under which the affidavit by the applicants would be the sole criterion for sanction of houses.
