R-Block round about turns into a battle field

Over 50 contract teachers and 10 policemen sustained injuries in a clash between agitating contract teachers and police at R-Block round about in Patna on March 5, 2013. Police resorted to lathicharge when agitating teachers, who have been on strike for the past couple of days, demanding equal salary with Government teachers, tried to break open the iron gate of the R Block round about, on their way to Bihar Vidhan Sabha. The area from R-Block to new market turned into a battle field. Police also used water cannons and teargas shells to quell the violent teachers who engaged in brick-batting and stone-pelting with the police. 

Several vehicles including a city service bus and a police jeep were burnt by the agitating teachers, police said.
