A drama outside Bihar Assembly


67 Opposition MLAs in Bihar were suspended for unruly behaviour and marshalled out of Bihar Assembly as complete pandemonium prevailed inside and outside the Assembly in Patna on July 21, 2010. A slipper was flung at the Speaker and a woman member threw several flower pots around.

42 Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs were suspended by Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary for the rest of the Monsoon session with both the Assembly and the Legislative council witnessing turmoil for the second straight day.

More drama was enacted outside the Legislative Council when a suspended Congress MLC Jyoti Kumari excitedly threw flower pots and created a ruckus when the watch and ward staff tried to prevent her from entering the house.

AISA stages protest demonstration against supension of Opposition MLAs


AISA activists staged demonstration and blocked road at Kankarbagh in Patna on July 21, 2010 in protest against the suspension and marshalling out of 67 Opposition MLAs from Bihar Assembly and Legislative Council. MLAs were demanding imediate resignation of Bihar Chief Minister and a CBI probe into the alleged multi-crore central fund scam.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar says Assembly incident is unfortunate

Lalu not permitted to enter Bihar Assembly


Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad was not permitted to enter the Bihar Assembly where opposition MLAs were on an indefinite dharna demanding the resignation of the Nitish Kumar government in Patna on July 20, 2010.
Lalu Prasad reached the Assembly and insisted that he be permitted to meet his agitating colleagues in the House. The security personnel at the main gate, however, said he could not enter and Prasad had to return.
Lalu accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of trying to gag the voice of the opposition and said he would not forget this humiliation.

Bihar Assembly turns into a battleground







Bihar Assembly turned into a virtual battle ground as ruling party and Opposition parties MLAs clashed with each other making it chaotic scenes in both Houses of Bihar Legislature in Patna on July 20, 2010.

Members overturned desks and chairs, broke microphones and came to blows over the debate on a CAG report on alleged financial irregularities. More than 12 MLAs injured in clash.
Legislative Council Chairman Tara Kant Jha suspended 14 opposition MLCs for the day following unruly scenes in the House after the Opposition demanded resignation of the BJP-JD(U) government on the CAG report that highlighted alleged irregularities of Rs 11,412 crore in execution of development and welfare schemes between 2002-03 and 2007-08.
