Bihar draws up a big plan size for financial year 2012-13

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with the development commissioner and other top officials on the next plan size for the year 2012-13, in Patna on January 27, 2012. The meeting drew up a bigger plan size of about Rs 28000 crore for the financial year 2012-13.

Workshop held on increasing investments in Bihar

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar inaugurated a FICCI-KAF workshop on "State-level reforms-Increasing investments in Bihar" in Patna on December 12, 2011. Addressing the workshop Modi said Bihar would have to find way for keeping its growth momentum going in new sectors like garments and jute, in the midst of economic slowdown indicators.

The conference held deliberations on banking, insurance, capital markets, mutual funds for financial inclusion and growth. Bihar shows 11 per cent growth rate in SGDP during last 5 years

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a "Bihar Development Report" prepared by the 'Prabhat Khabar' newspaper group in Patna on September 2, 2010.

According to report, Bihar has registered a state gross domestic product (SGDP) growth rate of above 11 per cent during the past five years, one of the best in the country. In addition, foodgrains production was 60 per cent higher in 2008-09 than in 2004-05.

The report states that between 2004-05 and 2008-09, the growth rate of the SGDP was 11.03 per cent, one of the best in the country.

In the year 2008-09, the SGDP growth of Bihar stood at 11.44 per cent, which was the best among the 18 states of the country for which the statistical data was available.
