Rules relaxed for Indira Awas Yojana beneficiaries


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level meeting with the Minister and officials of Rural Development Department in Patna on April 1, 2011. Bihar Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra, its secretary Santosh Kumar Mathew and chief secretary Anup Mukherjee were present in the meeting.
The meeting has decided that from now onward, the Indira Awas Yojana applicants will have to submit affidavits on their status to the rural development department for sanction of dwelling units under the scheme.
The Chief Minister said the rural development department should put in place a mechanism, under which the affidavit by the applicants would be the sole criterion for sanction of houses.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar holds review meeting of Rural Development Department



Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presided over a high level meeting to review Rural Development Department at Samvad, C.M. Secretariat in Patna on December 30 2010.

Reviewing the progress of the department, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stressed on the need for integrated strategy for constituting Self Help Groups (SHGs) for women's empowerment in the state.

"We should have an integrated strategy for constituting the SHGs for empowerment of women in Bihar," he said. About 27,000 SHGs, set up in 44 blocks spread over eight districts in Bihar have more than three lakh households getting benefits, under them.
