Drought and Climate Change

A State-level consultation on Drought and Climate Change was organised in Patna on October 20, 2009.
In his key note address, Vyas Ji, principal secretary, Department of Labour Resource (Government of Bihar), said developed countries had greater responsibility to check carbon emission. He alleged that developed nations were adopting double standards vis-a-vis the developing countries.

Oxfam and IDF organised Public Hearing on Climate Change and Livelihoods in Flood Prone Areas at Agrasen Bhawan in Patna on October 10, 2009.
Partcipating in the hearing, several speakers opined that weather is changing with each passing year. More intense summer, shorter winter and erratic rain falls are the results of climate change.
Bihar's Disaster Management Minister Devesh Chandra Thakur inaugurated the public hearing.
