Bihar CM Nitish Kumar asks people to boycott dowry seekers
Addressing the 126th birth anniversary celebration function
of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar here, he urged the people to start
social movement against child marriage and dowry as they have been doing
against liquor ban and deaddiction across the state.
“Child marriage is the main reason of malnutrition”, he said.
He also stressed upon the need to do away with caste system.
He said Baba Saheb had given the slogans of “get educated,
remain united and fight for the right cause”.
He said government had been working for the betterment of
every caste. “We have given reservation to SC/ST candidates in judiciary. We had
also given reservation in promotion but High Court decided it against us. We
have moved Supreme Court against this order and now the government is waiting
for SC decision”, he said.

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi (third from left), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain (second from left), BJP Bihar Unit president Radha Mohan Singh participated at a function to pay tributes to Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 54th death anniversary in Patna on December 6, 2009.Speaking on the occasion, Modi said BJP would oppose UPA government’s move to give facilities of reservation to converted Dalit Muslims and Christians.
