Bihar environment and forest minister Tej Pratap Yadav inaugurated Vidya Puri Park, Kankarbagh in Patna on August 21, 2023. During inauguration he aslo announced to rename Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park in Kankarbagh as Coconut Park.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to launch afforestation drive


Janata Dal (United) state president Vashistha Narayan Singh said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would kick off a plantation drive from his native village Kalyan Bigaha in Bihar's Nalanda district to promote ecology and save the environment of the thinly forested state. Talking to the reporters in Patna on August 8, 2011, Singh said the plantation drive was being made to coincide with the JD(U) membership drive so that people in taking the membership of the ruling party would have to plant a tree at a place of their choice.

Eco task force on the anvil in Bihar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with the officials of State Level Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) in Patna on April 20, 2011. The meeting has decided to create a task force, headed by Padamshree PK Sen to promote "eco tourism" and also initiate effective measures for the conservation of forests and wildlife in Bihar.

Protecting the environment


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar plants a sapling in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) premises in Patna on August 1, 2009 to celebrate the 60th Van Mahotsav 2009, organised by Environment and Forestry Department, Government of Bihar.
Bottom: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav and other distiguished guests taske part in the opening function.
Speaking on the occasion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar urged the people to protect the environment, plants and wild animals. " Plantation drives on a massive scale and mass awareness are the only means to protect the environment", he said.
