APJ Abdul Kalam holds interactive session with Bihar legislators







Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam was in Patna on November 15, 2011. In his day-long hectic schedule Dr Kalam visited several schools and had interactive session with students. The most important function was held at Bihar Legislative Assembly where Dr Kalam interacted with the members of the Assembly. Dr Kalam also inaugurated the function. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed the former President. Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary, Bihar Legislative Council chairman Tara Kant Jha, all Bihar Ministers, MLAs and MLCs were present in the function.
Addressing the function, Dr Kalam urged the MLAs to pursue development politics for their respective constituencies and become creative leaders. He also outlined the development mission for the Assembly members and asked them to achieve it in the next five years.

Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurated his dream mission "What Can I Give" at DAV School, BSEB Colony in Patna on November 15, 2011. The objective of the programme is to produce youth having strong value system who can shape the country better. Dr Kalam also had interactive session with the students.

Kalam prescribes action areas for Bihar 2020



Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam addressed the centenary year celebration lecture of Bihar Legislative Council in Patna on May 3, 2011. Bihar Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Tara Kant Jha, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, all the ministers of Bihar Cabinet, MLAs and MLCs were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function Dr Kalam put forward four action areas for the state to achieve the profile of Bihar 2020. They were smart waterways, introduction of metro services, fostering agriculture and promotion of spiritual, eco and medical tourism.

Kalam lauds Nitish Government’s development politics
Former president A P J Abdul Kalam heaped praise on the Nitish Kumar government for practicing development politics, saying it is always good for the people.

“Development politics means the government's concern for its people with all round development of the state”, he remarked after having breakfast meeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Bihar Chief Minister said the former president had appreciated the state government's decision to inter-link rivers of north Bihar for controlling floods and irrigating the parched lands of south Bihar.

There were also fruitful discussions with Kalam on water management, inter-linking of rivers of Bihar and Nalanda International University, he added.
Former president Kalam is a visitor of the Nalanda International University.

Addressing the 5th AGBM of the public service ophthalmology initiative “Vision 2020: The Right to Sight-India”, Kalam urged the top eye clinics and hospitals of India to open their branches in Bihar in the cause of 67 lakh avoidable blindness patients of Bihar.

He asked Right to Sight organization to take initiative in the matter.” I am prepared to take up the matter with Madurai-based Arvinda Eye Hospitals and ISRO which provides satellite connectivity”, he exhorts.
