Legislative Assembly passes Bihar Lokayukta Bill 2011

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed the media after the smooth passage of Bihar Lokayukta Bill 2011 in the State Legislative Assembly in Patna on December 7, 2011. The Legislative Assembly passed the Bill by voice vote. The posts of Chief Minister, speaker of Legislative Assembly, Chairman of Legislative Council and Government employees were among others brought under the domain of the Lokayukta. The House also passed four other Bills.

All-party meeting held on proposed Bihar Lokayukta Bill

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presided over an all-party meeting on the proposed Bihar Lokayukta Bill in Patna on November 26, 2011. State Government wants to introduce the Bill in the Winter Session of the Assembly. The Opposition, however, suggested that the Bill should be introduced in the Budget Session next year. They also want full and proper discussions at all levels.
