Bihar Government recommends CBI probe into engineer's death

The agitation by thousands of government engineers to protest against alleged murder of the engineer of the Road Construction department (RCD), Yogendra Pandey, continued for third consecutive day on Wednesday (June 24, 2009) affecting the construction work.

Meanhwile, Bihar Government has directed the state Home department to recommend to the Centre a CBI probe into alleged murder of an executive engineer.
Yogendra Pandey, the executive engineer of Sitamarhi Road Division died on June 18 after falling from the collectorate building. Even though a suicide note was recovered from him, his family members claimed that he was pushed from top of the building.

Striking Bihar Government engineers stage demonstration

Striking Bihar Government engineers demonstrating at the State Secretariat Gate on June 23, 2009. They were demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Yogendra Pandey, executive engineer of the Road Costruction Department, who was found dead at Sitamarhi Collectorate premises.

Meanwhile, the three-day "cease work" agitation by thousands of government engineers in Bihar demanding a CBI probe into the alleged murder of an executive engineer of the Road Construction department (RCD) continued for the second day on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi appealed to the engineers to call off their stir.
