Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates conference on polio eradication



Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a conference on the role of Legislative Assembly Members in winning the last battle against polio in Patna on March 26, 2011. The conference was organised by Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Rotary International and Bihar Polio Free Task Force jointly. Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary, Bihar Health Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui also spoke on the occasion.

Bihar intensifies polio eradication drive

Bihar State Health Society held a press conference on polio eradication programme in Patna on July 29, 2010.
Speaking on the occasion, Bihar State Health Society Executive Director Sanjay Kumar said Bihar has intensified its polio eradication efforts to protect the vulnerable population even as the state remains free of the most dangerous type 1 polio (P1) for over nine months, the longest period ever, a top state health official claimed.
"No no case of most dangerous type 1 polio (P1) is reported for over nine months in the state, the longest period ever in Bihar", he said.
