North East Express derails near Raghunathpur

Four people were killed and over 50 injured when Anand Vihar Terminal-Kamakhya North East  Express derailed near Raghunathpur railway station in Bihar on October 11 evening. The photographs were taken on October 12, 2023. JAP president Pappu Yadav also visited the spot and met injured passengers.

Railway Week celebrations begin

Patna, April 12, 2017: East Central Railway (ECR) general manger DK Gayen inaugurated Railway Week celebrations at SK Memorial Hall on Wednesday.

Gayen felicitated several employees for their outstanding contributions and also released a book to mark the occasion.

Robbers strike at Patna Rajdhani, 7 cops suspended

Patna, April 9, 2017: One Railway Protection Force assistant sub inspector (ASI) and six jawans of Railway Protection Security Force (RPSF) were suspended following theft-cum-robbery incident in the Patna bound Rajdhani Express on Sunday.

Sources said miscreants struck in the A4, B7 and B8 coaches of the 12310 New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Rajdhani Express in between Mughalsarai and Buxar section of the East Central Railway in the wee hours of Sunday and decamped with cash, jewellery and other valuables lakh of rupees from about a dozen of passengers when the rain made an unscheduled halt at Gahmar due to some technical snag in the signaling system.

Passengers have lodged complaints at Government Railway Police (Patna Junction) and the case was later referred to Superintendent of Railway Police (Allahabad).

Police are probing into the matter keeping all aspects open regarding possible involvement of coach attendant and other railway employees in the incident.

Fire breaks out in huts adjacent to Patliputra Junction railway station

Patna, April 8, 2017: Fire broke out in the huts located near the western end of the Patliputra Junction railway station of the East Central Railway on Saturday. The fire started leaping towards Gorakhpur-Patliputra Express train which was placed at the platform number 3 of the station.
Sensing the danger, the station master asked the driver to place the train out of the danger zone.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police jawans swung into action and tried to tame the flame with the help of local people.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot and douse the flame. No casualty was reported as the people residing in the huts took shelter in safer places seeing the flame.

ECR gets adequate funds for Railway projects in Bihar

While talking to media in Patna on February 26, 2015, East Central Railway General Manager AK Mittal said adequate funds had been provided for ongoing railway projects and for infrastructure development in the Railway Budget. He said ECR had got Rs 1284 crores for new railway lines, Rs 211 crore for gauge conversion and Rs 466 crore for doubling of railway tracks.
