Thousands participate in Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra

Patna, July 1, 2022: After a gap of two year due to Covid pandemic, the RathYatra of Lord Jagannath was taken out on Friday from Shri Radha Banke Bihari Ji Temple of ISKCON situated on Buddha Marg. here. The idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev and Goddess Shubhdra were installed on a 40-foot high chariot that was decorated magnificently with flowers.

Thousands of devotees participated in the Rath Yatra and every one wanted to pull the rope of the chariot. The Rath Yatra started at 2 pm for the city tour.  Several gates were set up to welcome devotees on the way. Prasad was also distributed and Maha Aarti was also performed.  

There was a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees about the Rath Yatra this year. The Rath Yatra started from the ISKCON temple and it passed through Planetarium, Kotwali, Dak Bungalow  Square, Gandhi Maidan, Exhibition Road and ended at Shri Radha Banke Bihari Ji Temple at Buddha Marg.

The whole atmosphere has become devotional due to the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra by ISKCON devotees and huge crowd. The whole atmosphere is resonating with the chants of Jai Jagannath, Jai Baldev and Jai Subhadra.  

ISKCON spokesperson Nand Gopal Das said that the chariot of the Lord is 40 feet high and is made of hydraulic system. The chariot can be raised and lowered up to 16 feet to protect it from electric wires.

Stage set for Rath Yatra celebrations in Patna

An artist was giving final touches to the chariot of Lord Jagannath for the Rath Yatra to be taken out from International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon ) temple in Patna on July 1. Preparations were in full swing for the Rath Yatra which is being taken out after a gap of two years due to Covid pandemic.  Along with Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev and Goddess Shubhadra  will be on the chariot. A large number of devotees are expected to participate in the Rath Yatra.

Thousands pull Lord Jagannath's chariot in Patna

Thousands of devotees participated in the annual Rath Yatra festival in Patna on July 3, 2011. Earlier devotees gathered at the ISKCON temple in Budha Marg to celebrate the Rathyatra festival and witness Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra set off on their annual sojourn to their aunt's abode on a 40 feet-high chariot. They also pulled chariot carrying the presiding deities. Bihar Irrigation Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Minister Shyam Rajak and other eminent citizens of the Bihar Capital pulled the chariot.

Rathyatra festival celebrated in Patna

Thousands gathered at the ISKCON temple in Patna on July 13, 2010 to celebrate the Rathyatra festival and witness Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra set off on their annual sojourn to their aunt's abode on chariot. They also pulled chariot carrying the presiding deities.

Thousands take part in Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra

Braving the heat, thousands of devotees thronged the ISKCON temple at Budh Marg in Patna to have the darshan of Lord Jagannath on June 24, 2009. The chariots carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were pulled along to the streets of Patna. Devotees danced, chanting “Hare Krishna” and “Jai Jagannath” when the three deities were ceremonially brought out through the main gate of temple on the road. Scores of priests performed a series of rituals to prepare the deities for the procession.
