Manik Shaurya claims AB Prasad tennis title

Patna, June 10, 2022: Manik Shaurya of Chattisgarh won the men’s singles title of Dr AB Prasad Memorial All India Tennis Tournament defeating Vivek Kumar of Haryana in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Patliputra Tennis Centre here on Friday.

Abhinanshu  Borthakur and  Md Fardeen (both from West Bengal) won the doubles title beating Pratush Mohanty (Odisha) and  Manik Shaurya (Chattisgarh) in an exciting three-setter 6-4, 6-7(5) and 10-8.

In the men’s singles final, Vivek took the first set easily at 6-4 but Manik bounced back and captured the second set at 6-4. Maintaining his superb display, he pocketed the final set also at 6-4.

Dr  Manjula Akhouri, Dr Sanjeev Thakur (Rotary Patliputra, District Governor Elect), Anil Risolia (Rotary Patliputra, President Elect),   Chachan  (Rotary Patliputra, District Governor Designated Nominee),  J P Todi (Rotary Patliputra, President), Anjani Sinha (Rotary Patliputra, Secretary) Santosh Banka (Rotary Patliputra, Treasurer ) Ashok Agrawal (Rotary Patliputra, former President) and N K Agrawal (Rotary Patliputra, former  President), Dr Nigam Prakash and P N Dwivedi  gave away the trophies, prize money, certificates and mementos to the participants and organisers.

Earlier, Ranjan Shrivastava, welcomed the guests. Akhouri Bishwapriya briefed the guests about the tournament and introduced them to the players.

Nirmal Dwivedi, Satyendra, Rajan, Amlesh, Sunil, Neeraj, Sanoj, Aashish and Rahul were present on the occasion. Kunal Aikat proposed a vote of thanks.

Patna, June 9, 2022: Manik Shaurya of Chattisgarh set up summit clash with Vivek Kumar of Haryana in the men’s singles of Dr AB Parasad Memorial All India Tennis Tournament at Patliputra Tennis Centre courts here on Thursday.

In the first semifinal, Manik Shaurya rallied to beat Mohammad Fardeen of West Bengal 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 while in the second semifinal Vivek Kumar outplayed Prashanth Vedansh of Karnataka 6-2, 7-5. The final will be played on Friday.

In the men’s doubles, Abhinashu Borthakur and Md Fardeen (both from West Bengal) tamed Ronit Gupta (Delhi) and Tanmay Jha (Rajasthan) 6-1, 7-6(2). Now, the Bengal pair will take on Pratush Mohanty (Odisha) and Manik Shaurya (Chattisgarh).The Odisha-Chattisgarh pair beat Gajendra Singh and Vivek Kumar (both from Haryana) 7-5, 6-4.

Mohammad Fardeen of West Bengal struggled past Abhinashu Borthakur  of West Bengal 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) to move  into the men’s singles semifinals of Dr AB Prasad Memorial All India Men’s Tennis Tournament at Patliputra Tennis Centre Courts here .
