Left parties stage protest against price rise


Demanding immediate steps to curb price rise, the four Left parties staged demonstrations across the country. Over 500 activists of Left parties including CPI-M leader and politburo member Brinda Karat and CPI secretary Atul Kumar Anjan were arrested in Patna on April 8, 2010 for blocking roads during their 'fill-the-jail' campaign against the price rise.Karat, Anjan and CITU leader A K Singh led a procession which blocked the busy Dak Bungalow roundabout in Patna creating serious traffic problems.
They were arrested and taken to a camp jail at Gardanibagh from where they were released in the evening.
