NIT-Patna holds its first convocation

National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Patna held its first convocation at SK Memorial Hall in Patna on June 29, 2010. Bihar Governor and chancellor Debanand Konwar was the chief guest. 252 students, who attended the function, were conferred degrees while others 417 were awarded the degrees in absentia.

BArch students of NIT-P continue hunger strike

Bachelor of Architecture students of National Institute of Technology (Patna) continued their hunger strike for the consecutive fifth day in Patna on November 6, 2009 demanding recognition of course by the Council of Architecture.
The course had been derecognised due to lack of infrastructure and teachers in 2005-06. But the situation had now improved, said a striking student. Students urged the Ministry of Human Resource Development to take immediate measures to this regard.

All India Students Associarion (AISA) extended its ful support to striking NIT-P students. Activists of AISA took out a procession (see picture at bottom) demanding intervention of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in this matter.

Surprisingly, the BArch course has yet to get recognition from COA more than five years of its inception.
