Protest against suspension of striking Patna University employees


Retired teachers of Patna University and activists of All India Students Association staged demonstration in Patna on August 17, 2010 in protest against the suspension of striking university employees. PU employees were on strike for the past more than one month in support of their demands. The strike put academic activities to a stand still. Bihar Government recently suspended more that 250 PU employees for observing strike.

Students protest non-teaching employees' strike

HRD secretary holds meeting with non-teaching employees

Bihar Government's Human Resources Development (HRD) secretary Anjani Kumar Singh held a meeting with the representatives of Bihar State University and College Employees' Federation in Patna on July 14, 2010 on the the issue of strike. The talks, however, failed to bear the fruits as non-teaching employees decided to continue their strike.

Non-teaching employees strike Bihar universities functioning


Non-teaching employees of Bihar universities staged a day-long dharna before Bihar Assembly in Patna on December 21, 2009. Employees took a day casual leave to take part in the Maha dharna. About 33,000 employees of 250 colleges of Bihar were on leave. The call for the strike was given by Bihar Rajya Vishwavidyalaya Evam Mahvidyalaya Karmchari Mahasangha. The association submitted memorandum of demands to Bihar Assembly Speaker and Bihar Legislative Council Chairman.
