Mob turns violent after murder





Angry residents of Digha locality blocked the Gandhi Maidan-Danapur main road to protest the gruesome killing of Parwez Alam, who was attacked by a group of anti-socials. Alam and his brother Afroz were engaged in a earth filling work at air Field Colony under Digha police station on June 10, 2009 morning. Afroz also sustained bullet injuries in the incident. The news of firing sparked violence as Alam’s supporters came out on the streets and blocked the road by burning tyres. They also tried to torch the house of Mukesh Roy, suspected to be involved in the murder of Parwez Alam.
The agitators also pelted stones on the police when the latter reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Rabri Devi condemned the incident and expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order in Patna. Lalu Prasad alsong with former Patna MP, Ram Kripal Yadav, former minister Shakeel Ahmad and Md Anwar (MLC) visited the Patna Medical College and Hospital to enquire about the condition of Afroz Alam.
