Bihar Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav inaugurating a workshop on "Maternal Death Audit", organised by UNICEF in Patna on June 16, 2009.Speaking on the occastion Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said the maternal death rate had dropped in Bihar. Institutional deliveries in Bihar have increased from 15 to 40 per cent over the last three years. Against 1.36 lakh institutional deliveries in 2006, the state had now logged over 11 lakh, thereby successfully reducing the maternal moratlity rate (MMR).
