Women kabaddi player shot dead in Patna



In a bizarre incident, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan shot dead a national-level women Kabbadi player before shooting himself near the McDowell round about (Bahadurpur railway crossing) in Patna on February 9, 2011 evening.

24-year-old Manisha, a regular member of Bihar senior women kabaddi team was on her way back home from the Moinul Haq Stadium after attending a practice session when the CRPF jawan Jaswant Singh intercepted her at the McDowell round about and picked up a quarrel as she refused to share her mobile number. When Mansiha refused the give her mobile number, the jawan sprayed bullets on her body by his AK-47 rifle.

Manisha, posted as a clerk at the Danapur divisional office of the Eastern Central railway, was taken to a nearby nursing home where she was declared “brought dead”.

Jaswant was admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. Police rushed to the spot and were investigating the matter.
