Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to launch afforestation drive

Janata Dal (United) state president Vashistha Narayan Singh said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would kick off a plantation drive from his native village Kalyan Bigaha in Bihar's Nalanda district to promote ecology and save the environment of the thinly forested state. Talking to the reporters in Patna on August 8, 2011, Singh said the plantation drive was being made to coincide with the JD(U) membership drive so that people in taking the membership of the ruling party would have to plant a tree at a place of their choice.
