School teachers honoured in Patna


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar honoured government school teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day at a state function in Patna on September 5, 2010.

Speaking on the occasion, he said 40 lakh illiterate women were made literate under a government scheme by two lakh teachers across the state.

These teachers would be given Rs 1,000 and a citation letter for making the women literate under the 'Mukhyamantri Akshar Anchal Yojana', he said.

He announced that the government would provide Rs 250 annually to all the students between three and six years going to anganwadi schools and Rs 500 to students from class three to class five for purchase of uniform.

The chief minister said B Ed course would be introduced in all the constituent colleges. Teachers of university and college would also be honoured along with those of schools on Teachers Day from next year, he said.
